Dutch Language Course
Dutch Language Program Objective
The Boston Language Institute, New England’s leading language school, offers Dutch language courses to individuals and companies. The quality of instruction provided in our Dutch language classes are on a par with the best native Dutch language school.
We consider it to be the major goal of our program to have you use Dutch in as large a variety of real-life situations as possible. To that end, our Dutch courses have been designed to build fluency in both the spoken and the written language. Communication in a warm and relaxed environment is an important feature of our programs, as is homework, which includes exercises for review and practice of the material taught in class. Moreover, by keeping the class size limited to twelve students, we ensure that each student will be able to actively participate.
Dutch Level 1
This course aims to give beginning students a practical command of the vocabulary and grammar of the language. Upon completion of this course, students can expect to be able to discuss their daily activities using the simple present, past perfect and future verb tenses. Topics include imperative and interrogative forms, demonstratives, possessives and simple sentence structure.
(Colloquial Dutch, Chapters 1-8)
Dutch Level 2
Building upon the skills studied in Level One, topics include coordinate and subordinate clauses, reflexive verbs, comparatives and superlatives. Students express themselves more precisely as they gain skill using the simple past, pluperfect and conditional perfect verb tenses. Structured speaking and listening activities focused on daily conversation topics enable students to improve dramatically their vocabulary and mastery of grammatical skills. Upon completion of this course, students should also be able to compose a simple letter.
(Colloquial Dutch, Chapters 9-16)
